Pandora Makes Some Big Announcements
Pandora had a big week last week.
The popular streaming music service announced deals with major labels including Sony, Universal, and Warner while also announcing a revamped subscription service and changes to its free, ad-supported service.
On the subscription front, Pandora announced “Pandora Plus”, a rebranded and improved version of “Pandora One”. The revamped service offers unlimited skips and replays, and a new offline mode that will keep the music playing when your connection drops.
Within the free, ad-supported service (where the majority of Pandora’s 78 million users are), users will be allowed to skip and replay more songs by opting into video ads.
Pandora is expected to release a $10/mo subscription service later this year that will likely compete more directly with Apple Music, Spotify and the like.
