Netflix Says it’s Okay to Spoil Yourself
TV show water cooler talk used to be simpler. Everyone watched the same new episode once-a-week. We were all at the same point of a show.
Netflix changed everything by releasing entire seasons at once. Now, the conversation’s way more complex. You begin with questions like, “Wait, how far are you?” before diving in.
If you’re not doing the spoiling, chances are you’re getting spoiled. But that’s okay, because it turns out, getting spoiled actually makes you more likely to watch a show.
So, we created Netflix Spoilers, a site where people could choose to ruin everything for themselves.
Did they do it? In the first week, they spoiled themselves 9 million times.
