Instagram Launching Live Video & Messages
Instagram announced some new features last week – live video for Instagram Stories and disappearing photos and videos for groups and friends in Instagram Direct.
Live video on Instagram will be a little closer to Snapchat-like instead of Facebook Live or Periscope in that the video will disappear once the live feed ends. On other platforms, the video is saved on the platform for later viewing.
Live video began rolling out last week and will be available globally over the next month.
To “go live,” users can swipe right from their feed to open the camera before tapping the “Start Live Video” button. Users will also be able to see who else is live streaming at any given time in the Explore section of the app by tapping the “Top Live” button.
In another Snapchat impersonation, Instagram announced a disappearing image feature to share in a “spontaneous, pressure-free way.”
